Shenzhen is a major city in Guangdong Province, China. Situated in the Pearl River Delta Region, it is China’s first and one of the most successful Special Economic Zones (SEZ). Since its inception as a SEZ by Deng Xiaoping in 1980, Shenzhen experienced a massive population growth and was one the fastest-growing cities of the world during 1990s and 2000s.
Shenzhen is the major electronics manufacturing center in China and is home to many of China’s most successful high-tech companies. Home to 7 million people it is regarded as one of the most livable cities in China.
